A slightly larger size usually will cover up bad drywall cuts around the electrical receptacle box openings, whereas a standard-size light switchplate may not cover all drywall mistakes.
These are made of a heavy .042 gauge metal, very sturdy. Available in all our 53 standard electrical switch plate cover configurations along with telephone and cable TV, CAT5, and all the other low voltage accessories for our switch plates. Some of the configurations do not have a punched Star design, as there is no room to fit a Star on some configurations. Some configurations have both stars and a punched border design and they all complement each other. See our chart. Made in the USA.

NOTE: B,F,I,J,K,M,N,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z,AA,BB are in our Punched Border Design, (Not stars), but are intended to go with the star design. Some configurations such as D, G, H, O, P, Q, have small stars around the switch opening.
If an outlet or ground fault and a switch are on the same switch plate, this is how we design our product. We use a small star design around the switch and the border design around the outlet or ground fault opening. This is because there is no room for the large punched star on the switch plate.
All light switch plates can be installed with the outlet on either the right or the left side, by simply turning the part and flipping it over.

All our switchplates are referred to as a mid-sized part. They are a bit larger than the standard size, but not oversized. Having them a bit larger usually covers up any irregularities that could have occurred when the drywall was cut for the electrical box openings, which does occur quite often. Also, this would cover up any outlines, or paint or wallpaper color differences left by the old light switch cover. However, they are not so oversized that they don't fit into the spaces usually allotted for the standard sizes.

Our switch plates can be flipped up-side-down to fit your particular electrical configuration. Let's say you have a combination style, with the switches on one side, and the outlets on the other side. You can just flip the part over, and this works great in all cases.
