These are made of a heavy .036 gauge metal, very sturdy. A slightly larger size usually will cover up bad drywall cuts around the electrical receptacle box openings, whereas a standard-size light switchplate may not. Also, this is to cover up any old paint lines or wallpaper lines. Only available in double gang size at this time, sorry.
