    Frosted Real Glass Switch plates

We manufacture the USA Electrical Standard Decora or GF opening of 1-5/16" wide, by 2-5/8" High,

If your Decora, or GF-type receptacles are different from this, you must let us know before you start,  as some of the Lutron and Leviton receptacles will not fit our glass switch plate covers.

Here is how the telephone device is mounted on Clear, Mirrored, or Frosted Glass switch plates.
Peel and stick on the back sides of the plate and position the telephone device in the
center of the 5/8th inch hole for the telephone wire to go through and into the phone plug.

AND WITH GLASS BEING FLAT ON THE BACK SIDES, SOMETIMES INSTALLATION IS A BIT DIFFICULT, SO WE HAVE DEVELOPED A PRODUCT CALLED SWITCHGARDS, SO SEE OUR VIDEO BELOW TO SHOW HOW TO MAKE THE FROSTED GLASS SWITCH PLATES EASY TO INSTALL.

Telephone Jack installation on Glass Switch Plates, Acrylic, and Frosted using our Screwgard Gaskets Below

The telephone jack for all the glass and acrylic switch plates is always a 3/8 inch hole in the glass.  Then the telephone plug in an almond color that is supplied has two peel-and-stick pieces of sticky paper on one side of the new telephone plug, which you peel and stick on the BACKSIDE of the glass, and you have to line it up so the telephone jack cord can go through that hole on the front of the glass to plug into the new telephone jack positioned on the backside of the glass, acrylic, or the Screwgard paintable gasket.   This new almond color jack is to replace whatever you have on the wall, and it is color-matched to attach the same color wires (Red-Green-Black-White, etc.) coming out of the wall to the new telephone jack on the backside of the glass switch plates.  Now, this mounting of the new telephone jack on the backside of the glass should be done AFTER the glass plate has been painted on the backsides to the color of your choosing.

See this video on how to install a receptacle for a glass backsplash

Here are some sample installations of how receptacles are to be installed

Please read this for the Tile Installers:

If you would like to use the clear beveled glass with NO PAINTING on the backsides, you will need to have your tile installers put the tile up to the receptacles, and not just end at the box in the wall or you will see the wires in the wall.   If you are using a standard duplex receptacle with two rounded-shaped holes, we would advise you to replace them with a Decora-style duplex with a large rectangular shape, as this will be easy to put the tiles to the receptacles.  See below:

We've all seen Frost on a Window, right? Well, that's what these frosted glass switchplates look like. Very different and attractive.

Like all glass, these do have a slight greenish tint on the edges of the switchplates, and this is usually never a problem, but we needed to let our customers know exactly what they are going to look like.

glass switch plate gaskets

You might need a gasket with your glass switch plates.  If the plug or switch in the wall is sticking out too far, the glass switch plate may not fit snugly against the wall.  Since all glass switchplates are flat on the backsides, our gaskets peel and stick to the outer edges of the backsides, and let the plug or switch extend into the plate, and let the glass plate fit snugly against the wall for the best-desired appearance.

The gaskets at about 1/8th inch clear acrylic, and almost disappear when installed correctly and allow the glass switch plate to fit tight against the wall.  In some cases, you may need two gaskets.  They are available in 4 sizes for the 1-2-3-4 gang switch plates.  Please review the installation instructions by scrolling down this page for more information.

Frosted Glass Switchplates are available in 32 configurations. All our glass switchplates are referred to as mid-sized parts. They are a bit larger than the standard size, but not oversized. All Frosted Glass switchplates include screws. For switchplate sizing, please click here.

How to install a glass switchplates without breaking it

So you need to replace the glass switchplates in your bathroom or mirrored wall in your home? Well, it should be an easy accomplishment, but it’s a bit more difficult than you would imagine to “do it right”.

There are a few things to think about, and the first is that glass mirrored switch plates are flat on the backside, and not like standard wall plates, which are not. If you think you just need to get out the screwdriver, and away you go, don’t hold your breath, as it’s not that easy.

There are two ways to attach this to your receptacles and you will see diagrams of both ways to do this, so choose which one is the best for your situation. In the first figure, we are going to use a duplex receptacle. Some have two screws and some only have one screw, but all the switches and receptacles work with the same method.  Please follow these directions and your glass switchplates installation will be a breeze.

glass switch plates installation instructions
  1. Let’s start by turning off the electricity to that switch or outlet, removing the existing plate from the wall, and unscrewing the electrical receptacle with the mounting screws. Then carefully pull the receptacle out of the box to give yourself some room to make the following adjustments below in section 2 to section 7, but make sure the power is off to that receptacle before you start pulling it out of the box.
  2. Check to make sure that the facing surface of the conduit box fixture in the wall is flush with the wall, and secure that glass plate to the fixture.
  3. If the box in the wall is recessed, you must install the screw spacer (Steps 4-7). Otherwise, by tightening the screws, you will pull the glass plate into the box in the wall, and this will cause it to crack or break.
  4. Measure the recessed distance from the front wall surface to the conduit box flange.
  5. Cut the plastic screw spacer at the measured length and install it on the top and bottom mounting screws behind the flanges of the electrical fixture. (See the illustration above).
  6. Now with the spacers attached, then place the electrical fixture back in the conduit box in the wall and affix it to the conduit box. You might want to put a piece of electrical tape over the heads of the conduit box mounting screws, as they could be resting on the backside of the glass switch plate, and might take the reflective paint off the back if they are touching too hard.
  7. Hold the glass plate up to the electrical fixture and check to make sure the fixture is fitting flush against to back of the glass switchplate. If it is not, the glass switchplate may bend in and break when you tighten it to the electrical fixture.
  8. Remember that the glass switchplate is flat on the backside unlike a normal switch plate which has a concaved back, and the receptacle may not come all the way out to the front of the glass switchplate, and this is normal, as the glass in beveled for easy access to the plug or switch.
  9. If the glass switch plate does not bump up against the wall because your box in the wall may be out too far, you may need an inexpensive acrylic spacer plate that takes up the distance between the wall and the back of the glass switch plate.
  10. This may all sound complicated, but it’s not, so take your time and your glass switchplates will look great for years to come.
  11. You may also want to choose any of the mirrored accessories for your project for that special touch.
